Viljami Nissi (b.1994, Kannus) is a Helsinki-based visual artist and performance maker. Nissi’s practice is inspired by his concept of homosion: homosexuality as an erosive force, with the natural power to shape and wear down its surroundings. Where erosion wears away the earth’s crust, homosion infiltrates spaces, concepts, bodies, and minds.
Nissi holds an MFA degree from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki and previously graduated from Kankaanpää School of Art with a major in performance art. Nissi’s practice has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, the Kone Foundation, the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, and the Amos Anderson Foundation.
